Invasive Species Course
Introductory level course covering commonly occurring invasive species found in the UK. This course will provide useful information on early recognition and control of invasive species.
The course will cover the following:
- What is an invasive species?
- How species invade: naturally, accidentally and deliberately.
- Introduction to invasive species: terrestrial and aquatic plants and animals.
- Environmental impacts.
- Legislation.
- Identifying invasive plants such as: Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, Giant Hogweed, Parrots Feather.
- Examples of treatment.
The course will also include a short field trip to look for invasive species.

Where: The course will be based at our training centre at The Granary, Westpoint, Sidmouth Road, Clyst St Mary, Exeter, EX5 1DJ. In case you need to stay overnight, we have provided a list of local accommodation.
Date: Friday 1st June 2012.

Timings: The course will start at 10:30am and will finish at around 4:30pm.
Price: The price of the course varies according to your situation: £105 (standard fee); £85 for unemployed/full time students/full time volunteers (proof required); and £130 if your organisation is paying. This fee covers tuition only. Prices are inclusive of VAT.
