Dormouse Ecology and Surveying Course

This introductory course will greatly enhance your understanding of dormouse ecology and conservation and will provide you with a useful first step towards gaining your dormouse handling licence. Once you have completed the course, your trainer will usually be happy to act as one of your referees for your dormouse licence application.

During the course you will cover:

  • Dormouse ecology & conservation
  • Survey techniques
  • Best practice in handling dormice
  • Carrying out a dormouse nest box check

Please note that the course is partly field based and you will be required to walk up to 3km and on uneven ground, so please ensure that you are capable of this before booking.

Other details:

Where: The course will be based at our training centre at The Granary, Westpoint, Sidmouth Road, Exeter, EX5 1DJ. In case you need to stay overnight, we have provided a list of local accommodation.

Date: Monday 24th September 2012 (N.B. Courses on 25th May and 23rd July 2012 are now fully booked)

Timings: The course will start at 10:30am and will finish at around 4:30pm.

Price: The price of the course varies according to your situation: £105 (standard fee); £85 for unemployed/full time students/full time volunteers (proof required); and £130 if your organisation is paying. This fee covers tuition only. Prices are inclusive of VAT.
